🌊 My Dance Journey – The Story Behind KhushiWaves

Dance has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. As a baby, I would light up the room grooving to Indian Music, moving with pure joy before I even knew what “dance” really meant. My mom noticed that and believed I could be a good dancer!

I grew up in Mumbai, which is often referred to as the Creative capital of India. I began my formal training in Bharatnatyam, dedicating 8 beautiful years to learning and loving this classical Indian art form. I performed in school dances, competed in events, and proudly brought home many wins. In Mumbai, I immersed myself in dance workshops led by Western instructors, exploring Hip Hop, Contemporary, and other global styles. Dance quickly became more than just movement — it became therapy, a way to express myself and find balance.

Life took me on a journey to build my career and settle down, but I never stopped dancing completely. After moving to the USA, I discovered something extraordinary — a dance school and a dance family who encouraged me, supported me, and reignited my passion. My confidence grew exponentially, my technique sharpened, and I trained hard to become a Licensed Zumba Instructor.

Along this journey, I discovered something even more powerful — my love for teaching and lifting others up through dance. Whether it’s my high-energy Zumba classes, community Diwali choreographies, private lessons for wedding parties, sangeets, grad parties, or birthday surprises, every class has been deeply special to me. I adore my students and their families, and I feel honored to make their memorable moments even more meaningful with my choreographies. My Reel workshops and choreo dance classes have become spaces where we celebrate joy, creativity, and connection together.

For me, dance is healing. My goal with KhushiWaves is to build a space where we don’t just learn steps — we express, release, grow in confidence, and spiritually connect with our inner selves. I believe every class should feel like a wave of happiness that leaves you lighter, freer, and more alive.

KhushiWaves - History

"KhushiWaves began with nothing more than my love for dance and a dream to share it with others. Through dedication, practice, and continuous learning, I’ve grown as a dancer, a teacher, and a person. This journey isn’t just about me — it’s also for my sons. I want them to be inspired by our Indian culture, to grow up with the beauty of Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil music, and to feel deeply connected to their roots through this art form that means so much to me. Every class and every student remind me why I do this — because collaboration, joy, and authenticity matter. Dance is my passion, and I’m thrilled to share this journey with you and welcome you into the KhushiWaves family."
